The Trim Castle is located in is the largest Norman castle in Ireland. It's located in Trim in the County Meath. The castle was built in 1172 but was burnt down two years later by Roderick O'Connor a native Irishman opposed to Norman rule. The castle as we see it today was built between 1210 - 1220. The entrance is within the east tower at first-floor level, below the chapel. The access to the three floors of the centre block is provided by a mural winding stair in the south-west and north-east angles. The first floor and second floor are divided by a central wall, but the third floor was one large apartment and the main room in the castle.
