A diaspora is defined as a population that is scattered across regions which are separate from its geographic place of origin. Historically, the word disapora was used first in reference to the dispersion of Greeks in the Hellenic world, and later Jews after the Babylonian exile. Diaspora also describes people who have left their home country, usually involuntarily to foreign countries around the world.
