Chogha Zanbil is a ruined palace and temple complex of the ancient Elamite city of Dur Untashi, near Susa. It is located in the Khuzestan province of Iran. It was built in 1250 BC under the direction of Elamite king Untash-Napirisha. The complex was dedicated to Inshushinak, the protector deity of Susa. Its outer wall is approximately 3,900 by 2,600 feet around the inner sanctum and 13 temple buildings. Among the 13 buildings, only four are well conserved. Its ornate façade was once covered in glazed blue and green terra-cotta, and its interior was decorated in glass and ivory mosaics. The building materials are mud bricks and baked bricks.
