Throughout the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church monitored all philosophical and scientific expressions. The Church explained the natural world with some truths that they claimed were undeniable. These biblical truths were a combination of the biblical study and the law of physics of Aristotle. The Renaissance encouraged people to look for proof instead of relying on authority to decide what was true. New technologies such as the telescope, the thermometers, and accurate clocks allowed natural phenomena to be measured and lead to more experimenting.
