Johannes Kepler was born in 1571 and came from a poor German family. As a young man, he studied theology and science. He had a strong preference for the latter. He believed that the order of planets and their movement could be explained through careful thinking and calculations. For him, the sun was at the center of the solar system. The six planets were placed at a particular distance from the sun, and their orbits were on spheres on inside the other.
