Sculpted by the famous Italian Renaissance artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Moses depicts the Biblical figure Moses having horns on his head. It's housed in the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. The marble sculpture was commissioned in 1505 by Pope Julius II. The Moses can be dated from 1513-1515. It is 'unequaled by any modern or ancient art,' said Giorgio Vasari. The statue is about 8 feet high sitting down. The figure is charged up with thought and energy. The Moses is undoubtedly considered one of the most important works of Michelangelo. It displayed his passion and courage while he was trying to complete the Pope's tomb.
