Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Colosseum is an oval amphitheater located in the center of the city of Rome, Italy. Being the largest amphitheater ever built, made of stone and concrete, it is listed among the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’. It can hold an average of about 65,000 people. Although it has undergone several damages caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, it still remains an iconic symbol of Rome. Even after 2000 years, it is the world’s top tourist attraction, with about 6 million visitors each year. Every Good Friday, the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church leads the Way of the Cross procession in the Colosseum.
