Found in the rainforest areas with swamps, rivers & basins, predominantly around the Amazon and Orinocco rivers in South America, the green anaconda which is also known as common water boa or common anaconda is a non-venomous species of Boa. Dark green in color with black oval patches on its back it is one of the largest snakes in the world, weighing up to 220 kilograms! The green anacondas eat anything it can catch – usually fish, birds, reptiles and mammals. Since they are non-venomous, they kill their prey by coiling themselves around them & then suffocating or drowning them.
