3D printing refers to the process of making three-dimensional solid objects from a digital model. Rightly called as an additive manufacturing, 3D printing is done by successive addition of thin layers between 16 to 180 microns to create an object. In this way, complex and functional shapes are created layer by layer. 3D printing comprises 3 steps - a) preparation of a 3D file of the object to be created, mostly using CAD Software, b) the actual printing process by selecting the material, and c) the finishing process like sanding, lacquering or painting. Now 3D printers are used to create human body parts to replace damaged ones - like limbs!
