Vertigo is a health problem in which an individual has spinning sensations. It is the most common form of dizziness. People with vertigo feel that the environment around them is moving or spinning. Vertigo is generally a symptom of some other health issue rather than a condition. It is associated with nausea, vomiting, headache, fainting or balance problems. It is one of the most common medical complaints and people with vertigo generally describe the sensation as ‘feeling dizzy’ or ‘head spinning’. It can be caused by ear infections or Meniere’s disease. The condition of vertigo is not to be confused with the fear of falling from heights.
