The Catrina is a 1910–1913 zinc etching by the Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada. This character is one predominant icon of the Mexican tradition known as "Día de Muertos" (or Day of the Dead in English). The zinc etching has the form of a female skeleton dressed only in a hat. Her chapeau is related to European styles of the early 20th century.
