The bissu are a people that were talked about quite a bit in chapter 2. I found the concept of them being so old and controversal at times to be really interesting. Bissu are seen as spiritual beings who embody both masculine and feminine power and have been acknowledged in societies across Indonesia for a long time. Their pratices have been apart of local culture for a long time as well.
