
A madrassah, sometimes referred to as a madrasa, is defined as a Muslim school, college, or university that is often part of a mosque. This insitutions trace their traditions back through nearly a thousand years of Islamic teaching. Madrassahs were founded as centers of learning for the next generation of Islamic scholars and clerics but these schools now increasingly dominate the education sphere in Pakistan.
