The Enlightenment era started in the mid-decades of the seventeenth century through the eighteenth century. This period is defined by sensational revolutions in philosophy, science, society, and politics. These revolutions swept away the medieval world-view and ushered in the modern western world. Enlightenment thinking is the process of accepting to think for one's self, to employ and rely on one's intellectual capacities in figuring out what to believe and how to act. The faith of Enlightenment is becoming progressively self-direct in thought and action through the arousal of one's intellectual powers.
