As opposed to settler colonialism, which makes colonies a permanent home to colonial settlement, franchise colonialism describes an extractive colonial system in which the physical and human resources of a country are exported to the colonizing country. This form of colonialism is structured by the invading country, who place themselves atop the native social hierarchy & force the people to work on their own lands for the benefit of their colonizers. Those from the colonizing country inhabit the colonized country for a limited duration, & the colonial structure lasts only as long as the resource, producing less long-term effects than settler.
