Jean Baudrillard (1929-2007) was a philosopher and cultural critic of high esteem. He is associated with postmodern & poststructuralist theory, and renowned for Marxist critiques of modern consumer society & works concerning the relational games played in modern society. Seduction to Baudrillard is a (feminine) social ritual that comprises a game of appearances. He sees the feminine principle as a strength of women, a sovereignty, which is produced as seduction. Male/female binary is not one of opposition, but one of man being seduced by woman. This reframing is apt for critique, but perhaps succeeds in giving a glimpse of heteronormativity.
