
Multiculturalism was popularization in the 1990s to promote “tolerance” within society. Multiculturalism attempts to present the differences between religions as something to be celebrated. However, by defining religions in this way, it also deems certain traditions as different from the “norm.” Although multiculturalism is a good attempt at solidarity, its lack of intersectionality has perpetuated injustice against minority communities.
