Populism is defined as a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups. In Wilcox's text they relate populism to Luther's theology and says how he was insistent that every person is called on by God. Populism can be used in politics and is often more associated with that but as above can also be used in religious contexts.
