
Queerness means “out of order.” It describes something that no longer aligns with the expected and dominant ideals for its presentation. Queerness defies categorization and “says no” to captivity as a model for human interaction and social encounters. Queerness is the “other”; it is “freakish,” and it annoys the dominant mode of being.
