Brahe was born in 1546. Issued from a noble Danish family, Brahe studied mathematics and astronomy in Germany. Brahe's main purpose was to figure out the positions of planets and stars as accurately as possible. His method was to create and built the adequate observing instrument and to record night after night the positions of the planets. Brahe's theory was an intermediate picture between Ptolemy and Copernicus. For him, the earth was at rest, the sun moved around the earth, and the other planets all went around the sun.
