
The Coral Triangle is a 6 million km2 area that stretches from Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands and Timor Lester. It is the richest centre of biodiversity and represents 30% of the world coral reefs. According to marine biologists, the Coral Triangle is home to 6,000 species of reef fish, 76% of coral species. Six out of the seven marine turtles can be found in that region along with mammals such as the whales, dolphins and the dugongs.
