The eruption of the Novarupta Volcano took place on June 6th, 1912. It's considered one of the most massive eruptions of the 20th century. Novarupta is located in the Katmai National Park and Preserve on the Alaska Peninsula. When the volcano erupted, the blast was heard at about 750 miles from the volcano. For the following three days, approximately, fourteen earthquakes occurred. The eruption ejected thirty cubic kilometers of ash and debris. Dark columns of gas and tephra were ejected into the atmosphere. The consequences on the fauna and the flora were catastrophic.
